Major Arcana · IV
The Emperor
structureauthorityboundariesorder
Upright
Structure is the answer; set the rule and hold it.
You are being asked to lead, not to be liked.
Clear boundaries and written agreements prevent the confusion you fear.
Authority used calmly is respected more than authority used loudly.
Build the frame now so you can be flexible later.
Reversed
Control is being mistaken for competence.
The structure around you has become rigid enough to break something.
Rigidity shows up as rules nobody can explain and people who stop telling you the truth.
Loosen one constraint and see whether the rest are load-bearing.
Check whether you are defending the goal or defending your position.
